With the world becoming more and more sensitive to climate change, the importance of weather monitoring is rocketing. Municipalities are pressured to measure air quality for different purposes, ie. comply with regional/national regulations, safeguard public health by monitoring local communities’ exposure to pollution, assess the effectiveness of urban policies (pedestrian areas, ultra-low emission zones, temporary road closures, public transportation investments, etc.), control local emission sources (roads and railway corridors, industrial and construction sites, waste treatment plants, etc.). Natural disasters also also increasing in frequency and intensity, affecting urban as well as rural areas. Track and monitoring hyper-local environmental parameters are thus becoming a necessity for cities and rural areas, together with the need to alert residents in case of upcoming heat waves, snow or ice storms, or other unfortunate conditions.

Our Smart Environmental Sensors are integrated into our wireless network to collect data about temperature, humidity, noise, air quality, and many other environmental phenomena. The solution can also contribute to the improvement of solar irradiance prediction through pyranometers, or the early detection of dangerous situations such as earthquakes, flooding, and extreme weather. The same wireless network can easily integrate other third party’s sensors in order to gather more data and generate a full picture of the environmental data.

Data from connected sensors will be visible on Smart CMS to keep an eye on the different environmental phenomena, and be promptly reported to local authorities and law enforcement agencies when given thresholds are reached. Audio alarms or emergency lights mounted on street lampposts can also be triggered to alert nearby people in case of need.

Our Smart Environmental Sensors can provide hyper-local information linked to different environmental parameters. The data gathered on the Central Management System can be used to monitor several environmental parameters, as well as predict natural disasters and take immediate action to safeguard citizens’ safety and prevent further damage or contain hazardous situations.
